Appointment

We are closed until further notice due to shortage of staff / insufficient demand.

We offer non-urgent primary care to casual patients who cannot register with a GP in Rotterdam, or those who require a service their own GP doesn’t offer.

If you wish to consult a doctor as a casual patient, please read the information below and fill out the form.
Your request will be triaged by a doctor, after which the assistant will contact you (on business days only) to proceed, whether it’s an appointment or other advice.

This is not for registrations, we register patients at our Wijnhaven location here.

Casual patient fees NZA (2023)
– Consultation 20 minutes € 67,68
– Consulation follow-up € 33,84

– Minor surgery € 104,00

We accept payment by iDeal or credit card, through a payment link.

Any referrals, prescriptions, and point-of-care testing (urine strips, CRP, glucose) are included.
Not included: Medication from the pharmacy*, lab tests, or anything else outside of our practice.

As of December 2021 we will no longer fax prescriptions. Only connected pharmacies, usually all within 4km of us, can receive our prescriptions digitally.

Pre-paying
Patients must pre-pay and submit the claim themselves. We will not be responsible for any possible co-pays or non-covered services, so please inquire beforehand with your insurer.

Other information:

If you have Covid symptoms

We will not turn you away for having Covid related symptoms, whether you are vaccinated or not. Do be honest up front so we can take the necessary precautions.

As of 11 April 2022, the national protocol is to do a self-test in case of Covid symptoms. If positive, you do not need to get it confirmed with a PCR. You are still able to get tests at the GGD, this is advisable if you need a recovery certificate for example.

How to get tested at GGD?
Book an appointment by calling 0800-1202. You can also do a walk-in at certain locations.

Referrals

iHCR offers GP care only, and if something is out of our expertise we can refer you to any specialist care provider in The Netherlands. We are not affiliated with any, and will choose the right fit for your health needs and preferences.

Most specialists will not see you without a referral from a GP. You do not require a referral for physiotherapists, midwives, dieticians, opticians, audiologists, dentists, holistic therapists.

Please note: Unfortunately there are long wait times for certain specialties, such as specialised mental healthcare, and there is no way circumvent this. We can only advise you to seek a referral as soon as possible.

Requesting prescriptions

We can help you with repeat prescriptions if you aren’t registered with any GP in The Netherlands, but you will have to come to the practice physically (this was temporarily not necessary due to Covid).

For most prescriptions, we ask you to provide: A picture of the medication box with your name on it (pharmacy sticker), OR a signed prescription.

In the case of opioids or psychotropic drugs, you must be able to provide your medical records. This must contain:

  • The medications (dosage, for how long you must take it)
  • Your diagnoses (why you use the medication)
  • Your treatment plan
  • Your doctor’s signature and contact information

Note: We only send (repeat) prescriptions to pharmacies that are connected in our system, we won’t do fax for privacy reasons.

Lab tests

We can send a referral for you to get blood work or other tests done at the lab.

The lab will bill you separately for the tests they conduct. Please find their fees here.
There is a base tariff and then they add the cost for every individual item.
Example (outdated fees): Blood work for thyroid is € 11,87 (base tariff) + € 4,85 (TSH) + € 3,96 (T4) = € 20,68

For Dutch Basisverzekering: This will fall under your exces, ‘own risk’ so if you haven’t spent €385 yet this year, they will bill you.

NOTE: You are expected to contact us for the results, from 3 business days after.

Reimbursement for non-contracted insurances

For the following insurances, you will have to pay in advance and claim it yourself:

  • European health insurance card;
  • Student/expat Insurance (Allianz, Allianz CZ, AON, Cigna, IPS, Loonzorg, SOS International, Unigarant)
  • Other foreign or private health insurances.

We will provide you with an invoice, which you can use to claim the cost with your health insurance. You will be responsible for the reimbursement itself and any possible co-pays, deductibles and non-covered services. Upon request, we can also provide you with a letter detailing your visit, may you need one for your claim. We will not write letters or fill out forms for your insurer.

European Health Insurance Card

We cannot directly claim our fees with EHIC, so you will have to pre-pay for any consultations with us. Only hospitals will take care of this for you. Zilveren Kruis GBR is the national health insurer tasked with arranging reimbursements with EHIC.
If you want to be 100% sure our consultation fee will be fully covered, contact the insurance company back home that issued your EHIC.

Submit your claim online to Zilveren Kruis:
Go to this page and click “submit a claim”, then simply follow the steps. You will need to upload your invoice and EHIC.

If you have Dutch insurance

If you have Dutch mandatory health insurance (Basisverzekering) , we will take care of the reimbursement for you. You will not pay anything to your insurer, unless you live in Rotterdam.

If you live in Rotterdam, your insurer will not cover a visit to us. Why? Because you should be registered with a GP practice nearby. Casual (non-registered) patient fees are much more expensive than the fees for registered patients. If you visit a GP in your own city as a non-registered patient, you are unnecessarily costing your insurer more money.
Hence, you will have to pre-pay the consultation fees to us and will likely not be able to claim it back.

We urgently advise you to register somewhere! You are still welcome at iHCR for services your own GP might not provide, just know that it may not be covered.

Here you can find GP practices closest to you, by entering your zipcode.
If you live in Rotterdam Centre, you can register at Huisartsenpraktijk Wijnhaven.

Cancellations

E-mail to info@ihcr.nl

Please cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance (business days only), so we have the time to schedule another patient in your place.

Unexpected crises or unexpected situations can happen, and we do understand this, but we may have to bill you a no-show fee if you do not cancel in a timely manner.

House rules

Appointments: Unless it’s an emergency, there is no obligation to book you an appointment as a casual patient. We reserve the right to advise a different course of action, especially if we cannot help you.

Aggression: It’s not tolerated, whether physical or verbal.

Cancellations: Please cancel 24h in advance (weekdays only) by e-mail. Cancelling late is perceived as a no-show since we wouldn’t be able to schedule someone else in your place.

No-shows: Appearing late, not appearing or not answering the doctor’s call can have various understandable reasons. However, we will bill you a no-show fee of €15,00 (10 minutes) or €30,00 (20 minutes). This fee cannot be claimed back with the insurer.

Refunds: We will only refund you for cancelled appointments. If you do not cancel 24h in advance, we will deduct the no-show fee from this refund.

Reimbursement: iHCR is not responsible for any co-pays or deductibles you may have to pay your insurer.

Failure to comply with these rules will result in the denial of access to our non-urgent healthcare services in the future.
